Sip & Spin- Wheel Throwing Fun Clay Class

Monthly every 2nd Friday night!
6:30pm-8:30pm
Enjoy your favorite adult beverage (BYOB) while you throw down on the pottery wheel! After watching a demonstration by one of our skilled instructors, students will be given up to four balls of clay to practice with.
Students may choose their favorite piece to be finished by staff at the end of class. Extra pieces may be finished for a $15 fee per piece. Staff will trim and glaze your piece(s) with a glaze of your choice.
You will recieve a pick-up date slip after class.
Guidance will be provided throughout class. All experience levels and questions are welcomed!
Your instructor will announce clean up time 20 minutes before the end of class.
Dressing for a messy class is recommended.
Please park in the front parking lot and arrive on time, class starts promptly.

Ready to learn how to make a glass and pewter dragonfly?
In this class students will learn about copper foil for glass projects. Various types of copper foil will be discussed including copper foil overlay.
Students will learn about types of solder and practice using solder including decorative solder.
Various colors of dragonfly wings will be available to make the dragonfly.
Students will leave with a beautiful dragonfly with hooks to hang on a pot or in a window.
All supplies are included. Please wear closed toed shoes and bring personal safety glasses.

Throw Down! Pottery Wheel Class -Adults/Teens

It's time to throw down! Get to know the pottery wheel in this two-hour long class. You'll learn how to successfully center clay and pull walls with multiple balls of clay. Students may choose one piece to be finished by staff. They will glaze your piece with a glaze of your choice.
Extra pieces are $15.00 due at the end of class.

We use glazes that are considered food safe. Projects will be made with a strong stoneware clay that turns white once fired in the kiln.
Dressing for a messy class is recommended. Trimming long nails is also recommended, however not required to participate.

VIP Raku Firing Experience

VIP Raku Firing Experience will be a hands on learning experience before and during our 1st Annual Clay Fest.
Friday evening we will meet up, talk about the process, glaze our pieces and prepare for the Saturday firing. Raku firing begins 8am on Saturday (early entry to the Clay Fest)
VIPs can have up to 2 pieces fired with size restrictions -no more that 9 inches tall and 6 inches wide. Students must bring bisqued raku clay forms on Friday 4/19 at 6pm. Please purchase approved raku clay and glazes from Ceramica. We will have 1 or 2 raku glazes on hand if you would like to use ours. We will glaze together on Friday evening. VIP can store pieces on site overnight.
For Safety: Be aware of the exposure to a smoking environment (a mask is optional), VIPs must bring gloves for handling heat, wear cotton clothing and long sleeves, pants and closed toed shoes. Participants will need to bring a combustion chamber to share. (Metal container with a lid) that fits your 2 pieces. Be prepared to assist with various tasks before, during and after the firings such as setting up and breaking down the firing area, watching the pots inside the kiln, removing kiln lid, helping with adding combustable sources to combustion chambers such as newspaper or wood chips, removing pots from kiln and combustion chambers.
Please plan to bring a chair, sun protection, water to stay hydrated and food since it will be a long day. If you play an instrument feel free to bring and entertain!
We will provide 1 or 2 raku glazes, wood shavings and dry material for firing. We provide all kiln materials and instruction and access to water and fire extinguishers.
Optional to bring- other combustable materials that are without chemicals- all natural, feathers or horse hairs, newspaper/straw, pine straw, fire protection clothes and safety glasses.
We will be firing the kiln through 4pm that day. Please plan to help with break down and clean up as well as help the general public who will have the option to glaze have their peices fired onsite.
There is opportunity for horse hair process pottery but you will need to burnish pieces before bringing.
In case of inclement weather - we will set up kiln under our outdoor shelter.
* If you are a vendor as well you must set up your booth prior to the firing and have a 2nd person to help run your booth while you are helping with the firings through out the day.
*General public admitted to the Carolina Clay Fest 10am-4pm. No Entry fee

Family Wheel Throwing! 8y-Adults

Wheel throwing for the FAMILY! You will get to know the mesmerizing pottery wheel in this two hour long class, with guidance from one of our professional instructors. Students will get to practice and may keep one piece included with class. Staff will trim and glaze your piece with a glaze of your choice. Extra pieces are $15.00 due at the end of class.
Students will recieve a pick up date slip after class. We can hold pottery up to one month after pick up date.
All experience levels and questions are welcomed!

Textured Birdfeeder - Clay Slab Building

Learn the awesome art of slab building in the clay studio! In this class, you'll assemble a birdfeeder with slabs of clay. Then, you'll learn how to decorate it with texture and attach the peices into this fun shape. Students will have a variety of glazes to choose from and apply. These stoneware birdfeeders will be a perfect addition to your outdoor spaces.
Demonstrations and guidance will be provided throughout class. All experience levels and questions are welcomed!
